(MIG welder)Do you guys keep the gas connected to the welder all the time even if you're not going to use it for a couple days? I don't weld everyday..mostly on the weekends only. I am worried if I keep it on, gas will slowly leak through the machine even if I close the valve on the tank = money wasted.
Reply:What?  Just turn the bottle off.  Leaving the regulator attached WILL NOT cause it to leak down if the bottle is off.  Questions like these make me wonder if welding equipment is TOO accessable....
Reply:the only stupid question was the one never asked.no need to mock the person the only way we learn is by asking.yes fishstick it is all right to leave the welder hooked up just shut offthe bottle you'll be fine!
Reply:The regulator hooked up can actually help you detect a leak if you take the time to look at it once in a while.

Reply:On my previous smaller welder...I would take the gas/regulator off and gas would seem to last longer. I got a bigger welder now with bigger tank. Yeah I guess its better to leave it on.Guns are accessible too, I can put a bullet on your head if you want. JK

Reply:Thanks for all the replies. Gonna make it a habit to look at the regulator after using...make a note on the gas level....

Reply:Locked that plug on solid as if it had been welded in place
Reply:Originally Posted by DSW I know someone who did just that! We convinced him to stop before he hurt himself or someone else in his attempts to "remove" the plug. . . .
