I have a job opportunity to cut up scrap. I normally charge hourly, but they will only except bids that charge per ton. I don't know what to charge. Half the scrap is that little thin stuff that doesn't weigh much, but takes a while to cut up. The other half is nice thick stuff like dump trucks, dumpsters, etc. Any ideas?

Reply:Go to MSA and get a good over the shoulder, clip to the belt respirator if you are going to take this on. I recommend the silicone half face piece.
Reply:Yes, they are furnishing both. I furnish equip and labor.
Reply:It sounds like you could get looped into a contract; in which case you could have yours balls against the wall if you misjudge things. Why not offer to work for a week or two, to find your feet, and then pitch an offer?
Reply:I might try that maarty. They are a big outfit though. Any price ranges I should be thinking about?
