Passed my AWS D1.5 Bridge cert

Well it was a very long weekend.  I took a 370 mile, 16 hour round trip to take my AWS D1.5 Bridge welding test.  Why did I drive so far, well it would be 2 weeks to get an appointment anywhere else and it was $250 cheaper than the next lowest price.  Plus I been taking a pipe welding class there too.  Since I had a diaster filled week, I never got a chance to practice welding with 5/32" 7018 before driving there for the test.  So I made a practice piece on 1/2" plate right before they tested me.  So it made me so nervious taking a test with rod I have never used before on overhead on steel so thick.  If you know about the bridge test, you're not premitted to use anytools other than a chipping hammer and a hand wire brush.  So if you screw up, you fail.  Talk about pressure.  Takes forever to clean each pass.  It took me 2.5 hours to weld up the two test plates.  I passed my G3 test and G4 test.  So I am now certified on unlimited thickness steel.  YAHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!Now I got my bargining chip for this welding work a company wants me to do on a bridge.   Will be a nice winter job for me and my buddy who also took the test.Lincoln 300 Vantage 2008300 Commander 1999SA250 1999SA200 1968Miller Syncrowave 200XMT350MPA/S-52E/xr-15Xtreme 12vs Millermatic 251 w/30A  Millermatic 251 Dialarc 250 Hypertherm 1250 GEKA & Bantom Ironwokers
