Hey guys.  I've narrowed it down to the CST 280, but now I am stuck again because they give you 4 different options:Dinse:208-230/400-460220-230/460-575orTweco:208-230/400-460220-230/460-575For now, I will be hooking it up to a 240v outlet but i'm not sure what future voltage I might be hooking it up too. I'm guessing that they give you these 4 voltage options just in case you wanted to hook it up to higher voltage. I'm also guessing 240v  that i will be using for now will work with all 4 options, but which one shall I go with for the most flexibility for a higher voltage in the future? And what is the difference between Dinse and Tweco? Which is better and why? Thanks everybody in advance, I am not educated at all on this.
Reply:As far as Dinse or Tweco, neither one is better than the other.  They're just most typically used in different job types.Dinse is usually used with tig torches and in the shop as the interconnect cables with power sources, pulsers, feeders, other controls.Tweco is usually used with stick welding and on-site work as the interconnect cables with portable wire feeders.  Everything I have on the truck is Tweco, or adapted to use Tweco. On the voltages, 220-230, 460-575 will hook up to most electric in shops in the US.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
Reply:Ok, so just to clear things up, if I choose 220-230/460-575, does that mean that whether it's Dinse or Tweco, both machines are exactly the same and it's the cables that are different? Well for now this machine will be hooked up in my garage for a little while.  I would like to do some Stick Welding as well as Tig Welding.  So what should I do as far as choosing Dinse or Tweco?  I really don't know if I will go portable or not.  I just don't want to spend all the money on the wrong one.  Is it just a matter of buying different connectors or something?Last edited by TheKid; 10-27-2009 at 06:03 PM.
