Good morning all,Has anyone seen decent plans for a firepit/portable fireplace. Local fire marshall has started giving $85 tickets for "open fires" (I live in the near suburbs of Detroit). I was hoping to do something a little nicer looking than a 55 gallon drum cut in half. Any assistance would be appreciated.
Reply:check out www.yardiac.com or just search "fire ring" later, Rik
Reply:in the process of building one myself, no plans, just cut and weld until it looks right. I will be taking pics though That fire ring looks like a fire waiting to happen, a really good fire will that bottom hot and whatever it is sitting on better not be fireproof, also filled with wood like that and it has to be due to its short height, sparks will fly all over. Build your own, much safer. Mine is going to be around 24" x 28" and around 18" deep, the exact size depends on big I can get with the partial sheet of 1/8" steel I have laying around. I have 2 choices on the size based on how I build it, one is cutting and bending the plate to minimize my welding or a little bigger by cutting each side and bottom and lots of welding. As I said, I will take pics when I do it, sometime in the next week or so I think. Uh, wait I just re-read and you are asking for a fire pit, not a BBQ, I saw the fire ring and it had a grate, I assumed you were talking BBQ
Reply:My buddy makes them out of stainless beer kegs. The look real good.Yes I can tack it for you. I know that won't hold but that is what you asked me to do. Millermatic 350P XR Aluma-Pro push/pullMillermatic 185/spool gunMiller Dialarc 250 HF Water cooledThermal Dynamics Plasma |
