North Georgia Scrap Yards

Looking for scrap yards somewhere north of Atlanta.  Preferably northeast, but any would be helpful.  It seems we have a lot of places that buy scrap to process and ship out, but don't resell to the locals.  Figure rather than spending hours calling every listing in the phone book, I would ask the experts.

Reply:Self Recycling in Dalton, GA lets me walk around the yard, pick anything I want and pay around $.20-.25/pound. I always ask permission, but they know me now and just kind of wave me through. I have found entire pallets of new 3"x3"x3/16" angle around 40" long, 2"x3" channel, diamond plate, pipe, and other odds and ends that make for great practice pieces. I built 2 nice grinder stands from scrap I found there. I keep looking for a table top, but haven't found what I want. Once they had several huge cages with 1" bottoms, but they were too heavy for me to haul and cut up.It's hit or miss, if they have it you can buy it, but  many times they don't have anything I want. I wish they would let you leave a list and them call you, but that's not their business. I have noticed if there is new material like drops from a shop, they will leave it for a few days before they bale it.Plus, they buy my scraps back for around $.10/pound.  BTW: Dalton is in NW Georgia about an hour's drive up I-75. They are open from 8:00am to maybe 5:00pm(?) Reply:Will definitely have to  check out Timco since it's right up the road.  Might have to make a weekend road trip to Dalton sometime if Timco doesn't pan out or I don't find anything closer.Thanks
