Im sure Im not the first person to think of this, but I had to come up with something for a company Christmas party gift exchange. The gifts are supposed to be humorous so I came up with a bank designed for a person with little self control. Since there is no removable plug, there is no easy means of getting the money out. Basically, its a 7 long piece of 4 x 4 x 1/8 wall aluminum fence post with plates of 1/8 thick aluminum welded to each end. Before welding the top plate on, I cut the coin slot by drilling two 3/32 holes, 1.25 apart and cutting out the slot between them with a cutting wheel on a die grinder. I had to clean up the slot with emery cloth. Since my welds look like crap, I ground them smooth and polished the whole thing to look as if it were cut from a solid chunk of billet. I should add that before welding on the top, I dropped in a dozen or so 1/4"-20 nuts to foil any attempt to shake out the money. It was such a hit at the party, I have been asked to make several more. Ive also been asked to make one in steel, using a piece of 4x6 and ¼ plate. Attached ImagesThere are no small projects
