I want to get a shop press, but do not want one that is too large.20ton units seem to be in the right price range and size physically, but not sure if they will do what I need. What I want to do with it is buy a brake and be able to bend ~3/16 flat stock into brackets. Will a 20 ton handle this work load? I realize bigger is better, but really do not want overkill and something that will take up a ton of room. Most of pieces I build for suspensions are 4" wide and 3/16" thick steel. There is also the occasional bearing that needs pressed on and off for gear changes. Reply:Yes, the 20 ton press will do it. I bend 1/4 in mine all the time with no problems. |
