you know how you get those push scooters for kids. im going to make one of the and extend the length and make it wider. i am thinking of a chainsaw engine or similar for it.what do you think?george

Reply:the problem with scooters of any sort is the size of the wheels.  If you hit a pot hole with a large diameter wheel, you'll get a bump but a small diameter wheel will fall into the hole and the best outcome will be some road rash.  If you plan to let a kid ride it, I'd be sure to keep the speed way slow or only ride on a smooth surface or both.

Reply:HEY! When I was in college taking my welding courses, that was the first project I did. I made it pretty long so I could fit my size 12 clodhoppers on it. It came out great. The ones I was using had pheumatic tires on it and were about 8 inches. These new scooters with those little inline skate wheels suck. So after I made mine, it became a craze. I made a super limo one for my buddy. Then we had a dually...then came the tandem axle. Then we put headlights on them  and I put one of those neon kits under mine with a small battery box mounted on it. We all lived in Southern California back then and we would go to Huntington Beach and cruise the boardwalk until we got to somewhere to stop and have a beer. So many people would stop and ask us about them...where did you guys buy those? THAT was the best part. Right about that time I started dating my present wife. We went to a park with a big hill on it and we were riding double on the scooter and she was driving. She couldn't stop and we ended up head over heels on this big grassy hill. That was funny stuff. Thanks for bringing back a flood of memories! The bad part is that I don't have a single picture of any of those bad boys.Oh, one more funny story...One of the guys decided to make a bike rack on top of his truck just for his scooter. He forgot about it being up there when he drove under a carport and ripped the whole thing right off the top of his truck. hahaha

Reply:Good idea bro,...I had some "wild desires" just before I started to do my kart, and I was planning of making an extreme go ped with my go kart engine and some 22" ATV wheels. However, since the engine weights about 50 pounds I preferred to start the go kart (I was going to be more like a balancer than a rider). Also shifting trought gears was going to be kinda umconfortable....I like your idea, can´t wait to see ya getting started...(maybe you can find a good 50cc lused ittle kinds motorcycle engine which has a good HP rating and good weight cause the ones on the goped site are about 5 hp the most racing preparred I think, but are about 600 bucks If I remember ok)good luck
