metal torso of the wife.

last week the wife asked me if i could make her a metal torso to modle her clothing for sale on e-bay. well ofcorse i can was my responce. so after a few quick mesherments i set forth to the shop to figure out how and what to make this out of. well i came acrost a pile of 1/4" steel rod that was a cookie sheet rack at the local grocery store befor being hit by a car and then taken home and cut up into useable pices about 2' long. i figured i would build a cage to her size then cover that in batting and then a fabric so she could slide her clothing on and off without an damage. well i think i did a fine job so far it still needs some fill in bars to keep the batting from going into the frame insted of staying on the outside but all is going good. on the first day i just got the basic shape done, on the second day i added her.... ....... front bumps....  i guess i can say that. any was so all i have left to do is fill in a bit then cover, i have 5 pic's from day one and 5 more from day 2. in the day 2 pic's i added a few with my Miller BWE hood on top to give you all a size reference. i used a few metal waits i had a 2.5lbs and a 5 lbs wait to bend the rod around, this gave me a good even bend with no kinks. worked well. in the pic of the waits there is a small vice on the table also but it was not there wile i was bending, i added it to hold some thing after and did not take it back off befor taking the pic, but you should get the idea.pic's are #1 starting out just the basic shape#3 is the waits i used to bend the steel rods on#7 is front view of the torso no bumps just basic shape#8 is same stage as 7 but side viewsory only 4 on day 1 LOL Attached Images summer is here, plant a tree for mother earth. if you dont have time or space, sponcer some one else to plant one for you.feel free to shoot me a PM or e-mail me at [email][email protected] i got lots of time.

Reply:here are day 2's pic'sdid i mention this was a fun project that has prompted some interesting feuture project idea's. oh ya i got some stuff floating around in the think tank after this one.  guna maybee even make some $$$ with it. pic's just dont do the frame justice as they are 2D trying to show a truly 3 Dimentional pice. the last pic #13 is about the best at showing its true depth as its ferther back as i took that shot as i was going out the welding room door in my little shop, thats where i do most of my welding. unless i have to get the truck in to be welded on then i go to the big shop that dose not have power compleatly run yet so its on extention cords from the little shop, but i have started adding circuits to it so will maybee get it done befor winter ????? any way the last pic is well werth looking at. i also made the pic's perrty small so they would load faster for you all stuck on dial up like me. so injoy.so here are day 2's pic's#4 side shot no hood#5 front no hood#10 front W/hood#11 side W/hood#13 distance shotby the way the wife is a lil one so its not out of size she id just small, all the time when she is at the school to drop off stuf to our son or volintear her time in the classes they always sak her for her hall pass or ask her why she is out of class.  not such a bad eago bost for her i would guess. Reply:My wife was given an adjustable dress makers form a few years ago, but being a very thin woman, the form wouldn't adjust down to match her size.    She asked if I could modify the internal works to suit her dress size.   It was an easy fix, but I still made about 50 trips back to the house to "check" dimensions. Reply:her it is ready for her to use.the first pic is the frame she will derss it on and us for pic's outside during summer. it is ajustable the suport bar has wing nut screws on it to loosen and move it up or down and then tighten it in place. the second pic is of the hanging rack with a bar for hanging a pice of fabric behind as a pic. back drop so she can take pic' inside during the winter. kinda like the picture studeos do. it would have come out nicer if i had gotten some steel to do the job insted of just using the scraps i had laying around but its all i had so i used it and got the job doone. the haning one will alow the peg on the top of the dummy to slip in from the left, right , front or back so she can turn it toi get pic's of all sides and still use the back drop, sory the pic's did not come out so good, but you should get the idea.keep in mind the pice of fabric for the back drop will be much bigger than the one i have on it now that was just a pice i had laying around, she will get a few pices of diferent collor to show off whatever she is dressing the dummy in and the drop fabric will hang down much ferther.i coverd the dummy in some strechy fabric to keep the clothing she puts on it slide on and off easyer. well hope you all like it the wife is real happy and as usual said i went to far but thanks for the extra goodies.
