do you get your supervisor to sign your hours every month? im thinking of doing it to have proof, just so i have it and for possibly putting it towards apprenticeship periods.. anyone got any advice in this area? thanks for helping out an upcomming welder.
Reply:Definitely do it. Life will be a lot easier when you go for Red Seal or B pressure. Get a day calender in which you can document every hour, week by week. Get regular signitures, depending on job length, and keep track of all addresses. I've heard how nuke plants and military sites have asked for employment history back 10 years.
Reply:And also make copies of all your record of employments I you change jobs. I went through several employers during my apprenticeship and kept copies of ROE before turning in for EI. Several wrote me a letter stating my number of accumulated hours even though I was not registered as an apprentice with them. The apprenticeship board recognized the time. I have also seen a guy apply for trades qualification and his employer of close to 8 years refused to acknowledge that he was working in the trade.
