Motor cycle Trailer

Alright ladies and gentlemen I need some help here I'm building a trailer for a friend to tow behind his bike from sporting clay shoot to sporting clay shoot. this will be my first trailer I ever built. The actual cargo box will have two main compartments. One will just be used for lugguage the other will be used to carry 6 shotguns and enough ammo for a couple of shoots which I figured out to be about 1800 rounds for the two of them. the two of them is him and his wife. I have the box and the frame sketched up. Except for the axle and wheels. This is were I get into inexperince. Does anyone have any idea on what the wheel sizes are on average for these motorcycle trailers.  And what type of axel would be the best for this trailer. Any sugestions would be greatly apperciated. The cargo box will be made out of aluminum and bolted on to a steel frame.
Reply:Hey aluminumman,My neighbor has built a couple of these along with a bunch of trailers that he turns into floats for the homecoming parades.  He using the torsion bar axles that you get at NorthernTool.com.  They fit right insinde square tubing frames and it allows for independent suspension on each side.  Northern Tool has a ton of trailer parts to create just about anything you want.  The nice thing about the torsion springs is they support quite a bit of weight and they have a very low profile and for smaller trailers you don't have to rig up a bunch of extra suspension components.I might be able to get some pictures but here is a link that shows the parthttp://www.northerntool.com/webapp/w...atchallpartialI am referring to the short ones not the long axle.Michael
Reply:all depends on the amount of $$ they want to spend..this wont weigh much in the first place..why not look at some spindle mount weld wheels that take small dot 14" tires?they weigh next to nothing and would look real cool..and the spindle mount makes it so easy......zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:Some people I know who do that sort of thing start with a standard Harbor Freight ultility trailer. With one of those little trailers, you would have most of what you need and a little modification and you'll be good to go.
Reply:When riding a motorcycle, you really don't want a HF trailer behind you. It will fail and you will crash. My 2 cents.Northern tool is a good resource but also try etrailerpart.comThey are in Texas and trailers is all they do.Bill

Reply:I've seen a couple just lately. Odd how you can see them but don't really notice the details. I'd swear some use some kind of 'high wheel', more like a motorcycle style tire and rim.

Reply:Well  I have been spending alot of time working on the details. laying it out and getting some of the customers requirments firgured it out. Boy for doing this part time it has taken most of my free time.  But I'm finally getting in to  building it now and pictures will start to come in. It's going to have a total hieght of 31.5 inches the width is 39 total trying to keep a low center of gravity.Nothing is impossible if you have the determination and intestinal fortitude Semper Fi,
