Heres a idea i came up with this morning while i was board..i'm sure you members will think of more stuff to make..Sorta like a trailer hitch..you can keep making "jigs" and whatnot and it stays out of the way..heres a cradle.. and what i use it for..same thing here but its a "head holder"the possibilitys are endless..next post.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:And when the "jigs" are not in use just hang them off the other side of the table...i'm sure i'll be fabbing more stuff as neededwhat will you make?...zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:Hey zap,Put a cross-hole through the receiver tube and the attachment tubes for a standard trailer hitch pin to keep things from walking out of the receiver.  Or use a shoulder-bolt, back the nut with a big washer.  A regular bolt through the hole may work, but it or the hole may get buggered more easily depending on how much BFH persuasion is going on.Or, put a hole into receiver tube and weld a nut over the hole with an appropriate bolt into nut to act as a set-screw to keep the attachment(s) from walking out of the receiver.Your table looks like it has a 1 inch thick top?  Yeah, you can do some BFH action there.
Reply:Yeah,I've seen that in other forums. A piece of 2" (inner dimension ) square tubing welded to the table. You can mount your vise to a piece of 2" bar stock as well. For added 'security' you can drill a hole to use a trailer hitch pin to hold the item in place.
Reply:Oh ya, I'll be making a few of those!John -  fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!-  bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com

Reply:Zap,  That is pretty cool stuff. I made something like that a while ago to hold my buffing wheel and bench grinder.
Reply:Hey TJS-That's an unusual belt sander rig you have there.  I don't believe I've ever seen one like it before.  Is that an aftermarket add-on, or is it homemade?  If it's homemade, I suppose you incorporated a way to keep the belt tracking in check that we can't see?Just curious.Hobart 140 Handler w/ gasHyperTherm Powermax 380 Plasmaoxy/acetylene

Reply:Is it easy on-off, or pretty much a "leave it on" thing.  If the latter is true, why not just buy a belt sander and free up the grinder for a wire wheel?Hobart 140 Handler w/ gasHyperTherm Powermax 380 Plasmaoxy/acetylene
