Since my other cart was stolen along with the welder...   I decided to finally build a new cart.  Had some left over steel from other projects and made do with what I had.  Still have to put in a screen in the lower frame and hooks and such for hanging stuff, wrapping the gun and ground cables. My old cart in the picture was an engine dolly holding a Dodge 340 and 4 speed that I receive when I purchased a car.  The wheels from the dolly have been welded to the base of the new cart.Basic structure is 2x2 16ga, 1x1 1/8 and some 1/8 plate.  And it needs paint. Reply:the new one looks fine but the old one had character
Reply:Great looking cart . That should last a few lifetimes
Reply:ummmmwheres mine?  good job ...zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:Thanks for the compliments.      Yes the old cart had "Character" but was too big.  Around 6 ft long.  The big caster make it easy to roll around and is very stable.  The welder rack arms are a 15* angle.  Made cutting the support arms easy with 45* and 30* cuts, IIRC.    I need to chain it to the wall to keep from walking away....
Reply:Very Nice! I just finished a new cart/table. I do not have the luxury of having a garage so I needed a cart/table that I could pull out of the store room when I needed to weld. One end is for my MM130 and stick welder and the other end is for the O/A outfit. Total length is about 6' with a 42" height. It's a big'en but it works for me. Attached Images

Reply:It's kinda heavy empty...I think around 250#. The front and rear tires are pneumatic and are rated for 300# each so I hope when it's loaded it will be able to move it. I am in the process of making some diamond plate fenders. I thought it came out pretty good for my first real project.
Reply:Nice job, Is that a beer bottle holder on the left rear handle?

Reply:Looks like someone did a favor of hauling the old one off, to bad the took the welder too.  I hate a thief, I think they should all be shot. Is that politically correct?  Oh well, like I care.  If it offends someone they're probably no better than the people that steal in the first place. The new cart looks great!  Is this your own design?  A1 job.DewayneDixieland WeldingMM350PLincoln 100Some torchesOther misc. tools

Reply:Here are some pics of it painted.Have to get a longer chain to secure the new tank.  I cut the chain too short, and just long enough the first time around for the 55cf tank.  New tank is slightly bigger diameter, thus, chain is short.thanks for the props.   Attached Images

Reply:I wonder how long it will be before someone gives you crap because sitting on top of that nice Miller welder that resides on your beautiful new hand-made cart is a (gulp!) Harbor Freight/Chicago Electric flame-job welding helmet?! Don't you know you'll go blind using that?!?!? It won't be me...mine has gotten me through an entire semester of welding classes so far, though I do need to change the outer protective cover (vertical and overhead tee's really mucked it up).Nice job with the cart!Dave

Nice job with the cart!Davegreat looking cart, nice and portable, i have to make all new carts for my welders. i have then all sharing one cart. try keeping things untangeled when you have MIG,TIG,plasma and O/A and 1 c-25 tanks and anothe argon tand all in one place. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaarg its enough to drive you nuts.i have to agree about the tank covers, i only have 1 more to make for mine i hate having a tank that looks like its been dragged threw the dump sitting behind my shiny new welders, i work real hard for them and almost as hard to keep them nice and every time i get a new bottle its like they save the worst looking one for me.i painted one once and boy did i get crap from the guy when i went in for a refill, almost ended buying it, the guy came unglued, he was acting like i just took his 16 year old daughter out or something. i was like chill dude i just painted it for ya no biggie.OOOP's i guess it is a biggy. i was renting at the time, now i own but still swop out at fill time and get yuck back.thats a prety small tank what size is it?? i like the 80's for mine i have an 80 for MIG and a 125 for TIG, but as i dont weld that much its about right. summer is here, plant a tree for mother earth. if you dont have time or space, sponcer some one else to plant one for you.feel free to shoot me a PM or e-mail me at [email][email protected] i got lots of time.
Reply:Sweet cart friend.  I hope mine ends up looking that good.  Stupid nubee question...Why do the mig carts always have the mig sitting on an angle?
Reply:lots of people put the welders at an angel so when sitting next to it its just below them so they tilt it up a bit so the face is looking right at them, its only done on the low carts if the cart is higher thay leave it flat, its done with MIG and TIG alike just depends on the hight of the cart VS the welders position, if its below you point it up so its looking at you if its level with you you mount it levelall about personal preferance. summer is here, plant a tree for mother earth. if you dont have time or space, sponcer some one else to plant one for you.feel free to shoot me a PM or e-mail me at [email][email protected] i got lots of time.
Reply:thats the best part about building your own cart, you build it the way you want it summer is here, plant a tree for mother earth. if you dont have time or space, sponcer some one else to plant one for you.feel free to shoot me a PM or e-mail me at [email][email protected] i got lots of time.

Reply:aparently a freshly painted bottle makes them think you are trying to hide some type of damage to the bottle, so they have to retest it ?? just one of thouse things i know its in one comanys book that they will not accept them at all thats therowbread, the ones that swop out bottles at lowels and TSC with the blue tanks and the big hourse head. but seems like every one else dosent like it eather.i figured they would be happy to have them cleaned up and fresh paint too but not here ??? i supose you could hide some real damage by painting, just never thought aboout it till i did it and they freaked out. oh well live and lern, seems like tank rental and controle is diferent every where you go. lots of places wont sell over a 80 eather here but in other places its wide open buy what you want??? dose not seem to be any set ground to go by.?? summer is here, plant a tree for mother earth. if you dont have time or space, sponcer some one else to plant one for you.feel free to shoot me a PM or e-mail me at [email][email protected] i got lots of time.
Reply:Fun4 now... the small tank is a 55cf.  Big tank is a 125 or so.
Reply:i realy like the 125 and 155 tanks, lots of gas for the $ and small enough to move around without any truble. summer is here, plant a tree for mother earth. if you dont have time or space, sponcer some one else to plant one for you.feel free to shoot me a PM or e-mail me at [email][email protected] i got lots of time.
Reply:well i got a few on my bottles dressed up for ya all. all of thease tank covers are going out to cliants, some of you may be seeing your own covers here befor getting them. but there is no arguing the covers do make the hole welder package look much nicer, especialy if you add the gage covers too.the tank with the Miller on it is a 125 and the camo and plain blue are 80's.now i just have to remember who i told i would show them a dyn200 in camo???? just got too much going on i guess.
