I have a Lincoln 175 hd welder that i've had for about 3-4 years now with no problems. I have always used 0.35mm flux cored wire since i don't do a whole lot of welding. I wanted to used some shielding gas so i could use a smaller diameter wire since i have been using it a lot more lately with thinner metals.. I bought 0.25mm wire but i cant get it to feed right through the welder. Ive tried adjusting the tension but it doesn't seem to help either way. The wire will move a little bit and then stop. Any ideas what would cause this?
Reply:you need to buy a new roller kit, the grooves on the drive rollers are too big to grip the smaller wire
Reply:The roller might be reversible. On my 3200 HD you flip it around for the smaller wire. There's a small allen set screw that holds it on.
Reply:Try flipping the roller & you will need a smaller tip. The energy from the welder is carried in the tip.MarkI haven't always been a nurse........Craftsman 12"x36" LatheEnco G-30B MillHobart Handler 175Lincoln WeldandPower 225 AC/DC G-7 CV/CCAdd a Foot Pedal to a Harbor Freight Chicago Electric 165A DC TIG PapaLion's Gate Build
