I have to replace the PINS on a tractor loader,(Ford 8N)  the hole thru the loader arm is O.K. but the pin sleeves  on either side of the vertical post have to be replaced, i plan to just cut the post of at the bottom and weld in a new post  , post is bent anyway....so what do they call that "sleeve"  and where do i find them. I need 1" I.D. and hard steel.....
Reply:Get the sleeves machined out of sum tool steel.  and get them hardened weld in place and there you go better than new.
Reply:can't ya just "BUY" some?? to have a machinist make em is to pricey for me. I looked in the big ENCO cat. but did not see anything, probably i don't know what to call em.....besides SLEEVES..
Reply:I know this probably isn't what your looking for. also i dont really know what your talkin bout but im thinking new Holland used to be ford tractors. just like they own case ih. maybe you could try callin a dealer?
Reply:what I think you are looking for is DOM (Drawn Over Mandrel) tubing. at least that is what is used for making loader pivot points. a local supplier should have in stock the size you need, it is pretty common. just get the wall thickness as thick as possible and cut to length. do not forget to drill and tap for zerk fittings.
Reply:you may be talking about 'pin bosses' or perhaps a 'bushing'...pictures would help...
Reply:The bushings are an off the shelf part from New Holland dealer (I think.... They were for the Ford we had at work until the transmission was 'babied' so much by one of our operators that the clutch pack burned up)
Reply:The new holland dealer in my town said  " I -DA-NO, I ain't got notten.....He just wants me to bring it in...I would think they would be off the shelf bussings, I found flanged brass bushings which would be perfect, except of course, i need steel not brass. and the steel ones i found at the hardware store do not have a flange. I think zlick might have something there.... back to the ENCO catalog....

Reply:if i am understanding this correctly.  the sleeves which are welded to the vertical supports are worn out.  these sleeves typically have a 1/4-5/16 hole perpendicular to the 1 inch bore for a drift pin to hold the load pin correct?you may find a parts dealer that have these, but they are weld on so most places don't carry them and have to order them.  if you are in a bind you can have a shop make you some out of some scrap plate.  I would just ask them to drill a 1 inch hole and then I would finish it up from there with a torch and a grinder on the outside cuts.  as for the drift pin a hand drill would do nicely.oh i don't know the name.  i would cut them off and carry it in, or draw take a picture or become a good artist.
Reply:thanks all, I found some DOM stuff on ebay, it will work fine, I will just have to cut it to size & weld it in ,  That stuff ain't cheap, but then again, what is...........
Reply:DOM is great stuff for pivot point bosses or bushings.  Just remember that it is usually a few thou  smaller on the id.  You might have to ream it for the pins to fit.  Especially if you are welding around it.My name's not Jim....
Reply:Man I get sick of piss poor parts guys.  Thank god I can look up most anything myself and then just give them the part number. If you were wanting replacement bushings, like shown as #14 below odds are the dealer couldn't have got them anyway.  That is a Deere 146 loader for those who care, and that kit is about $100 for one side.  I don't know what loader you have but all of the ford loader frames I know of (730, 727, 735, 740) they don't service those parts.  I like to use http://www.messicks.com/newhollandparts.aspx  to look up new holland / ford parts because they give you their price which will be close to your local dealers price. Usually when i get in a situation like that, I use shaft collars like this from either TSC or Rural King, providing they are the same size or bigger than what was there.
