i am looking to build another manual pipe positioner/spinner thought someone on here would have realy good ideas. we weld 2" to 8" carbon and stainless out in the field and in hte shop for the oilfield? any one have any ideas? pics?
Reply:Find an old 3 or 4 jaw chuck that's can grip what you need. goto McMasterCarr and get a motor with a pot, buy a gear reducer and bolt/ weld it all together. If you can find an old motor or what not you're halfway there. probably can source the parts on flea-bay/craigslist and build it on the cheap depending on how mickey mouse you want to be.We built a positioner like that, and it was for a $200,000 welding machine.
