For those of you who don't know what a tub grinder is, it makes mulch from anything it gets fed; trees, pallets, yard waste, stumps, etc. This paticular machine has a HUGE V12 Cat under the hood and can eat a whole tree in seconds. The hammer mill wears out every few weeks and needs to be built up. Here is a pic of the tub grinder next to my truck.http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l1...grinder001.jpgAnother view.http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l1...grinder003.jpgThe Hammer Mill.http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l1...grinder002.jpgWear and tear.http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l1...grinder004.jpghttp://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l1...grinder005.jpgALWAYS LOCK OUT/TAG OUT!!!http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l1...grinder009.jpgMY LOCK AND THE KEY IS IN MY POCKET.http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l1...grinder010.jpgAll built uphttp://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l1...grinder012.jpgSelf removing 7018 slag http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l1...grinder011.jpgHammer all built uphttp://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l1...grinder007.jpgReady to go back to work for another 2 weekshttp://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l1...grinder006.jpgSome of the tips need to be turned, but the owner does that himself.I will get some pix of this baby in action, very impressive.Last edited by TozziWelding; 04-29-2007 at 01:09 PM.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."
Reply:They feed those things trees, brush, dirt, rocks and anything else that gets pushed into the pile. Dust for a quarter mile in all directions. I wonder how they stay working at all sometimes. Hmmm, the mafia bosses ever seen one of these in action??
Reply:Hammergrinder pretty much sums that thing up. What a badass machine!!!
Reply:I saw these things on Discovery Channel one night..Nothing has a prayer... Mans "Engineuity and Insanity" in one tag along package! ...zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:Neat job Tozzi......Looks like you gave the machine another chance at life !I have a friend that owns a tree service and they hire a company that brings one of those in to grind up all of their "scarp wood." I visited one day to see the machine in action.....unfortunately a turbo oil seal/bearing blew and the left exhaust bank was smoking like mad....the operator didn't seem to mind, he ran the machine like that all day !!! -Graham-Mechanical EngineerAutosport Mechanic/Fabricator
Reply:Nice work Tozzi, I do alot of logging equipment repair here where I am, and I see a few of those all along myself. Looks like that one is ready to go at it again... ~JacksonI'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......

Reply:The customer wants 7018(he said the last time he hardsurfaced it peeled, probally due to impropper type), and supplies it. Why argue my self out of a consistant job, I did however buld up one hammer with 11018 for giggles to see how it holds up.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ." |
