This was a rush job!! Here is the arm with the new steel bushing already installed..It became a rush job today..The arm was bored already and they wanted it for Wednesday...so they said last week.. But this A.M. the phone was ringing off the hook because they need it by 5 tonight!!They brought the material for the sleeve to the shop @ 10 past 9.. It was 7" diameter with a 1" hole thru it 8" long..The finish size for the O.D. ended up to be 4.655..The I.D. for the pin is 3.008 so the pin has grease clearance..So I had to bore it..Put (3) 3/8" grooves in it and connect them with a 1/2 thread per inch spiral inside for the grease channel..And then turn the O.D. to fit the bore.. I did not get pics of the machining part because i did'nt have the time.. So on to the welding part..Here is the champher that needed to get filled in..I did all the welding with the machine set here..Root pass..(one)And after that was done I had to build up the outer edge and fill the whole "channel" I created in so it can be re-milled flat on both ends..Now like I stated... all the welding was done at 1 setting..I used 1/8 7018 for the root pass..And then 5/32 for the channell and build up..We'll continue next post.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:Couldn't use the positioner on that one, huh?
Reply:And here's what we ended up with when I got done..(both sides)And I finished with my "end" of it @2:30..And then it was time to head home!! Not bad.. I get all the fun jobs.. ...zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

Reply:Atleast you got a 1" hole in yours..... most of mine come in with a chunk of 6" cold roll  for 3"  boss, and then fuss about the time it takes you to turn it down and bore it.   Nice work as always......  One question, why go with a weld in bushing, instead of with a press in or brass bushing?  I would think that would be a high wear piece given the load and amount of movement it will have. Just curious....  but as always very nice work. ~JacksonI'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......

Reply:Brass or bronze would last about 10 min in that application. Good to see you with a stinger in your hand Zap.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."
Reply:Talk about a waste of time and material.... That's a lot of turning my friend. Good thing you have equipment that will let you take a man size cut. _________________Chris
