So I'm new to TIG welding and I spent most of the day finishing my stainless steel grills.  Overall, things went pretty well but I did some really stupid things.  Sometimes I feel like an idiot.- I forgot to attach the ground about twenty times while moving the work.- Burn myself a few times by trying to adjust the filler rod on my leg.- Put a short piece of 3/32" filler rod in my torch thinking I was changing to a clean tungsten.   (Figured that problem really fast before it fused into my torch - Stupid) - Tried using a tungsten as a filler rod.  (This didn't work well either) Even with all my stupid mistakes, it was a good day of learning.
Reply:All I have to say is WOW!!! but here's to learning from your mistakes.
Reply:sounds like you're doin  fine.
Reply:I cant say that I've done all of those in one day.  I dont think I have confused tungsten with filler other than pulling mean jokes on other guys.  High freq'n my leg is still pretty common and burning holes in my pants and leg with the still-hot torch happens more often that I care to admit.Common sense in an uncommon degree is what the world calls wisdom.
Reply:At least you got them all outta the way on a grill. Kinda like when you start a reno or painting a room. Start in the closet. Make your screw ups in there. Once your in the main room, start up jitters are gone!
