i want a project. my friend is a keen downhill mountain biker and wants me to make a portable ramp or berm. what are some other suggestions?
Reply:Make me some cheese and crackers...I weld just to keep my snow plows ready for next Winter!
Reply:I'll take some of that, with an RC Cola, please. For your next project, you might make a bike carrier. If your friend (or you, for that matter) have a bumper receiver, you could make a 2-4 bike carrier out of square tubing and a few pieces of sheet metal and the little quick-connect wheel holder thingies.Smithboy...if it ain't broke, you ain't tryin'.
Reply:what is a bumper reciever. we both are mountain bikers except for the fact that i do cross country.
Reply:See the following link...pictures are better than words, on some occasions. The first link is the bike racks...the second is a picture of the receiver. http://www.etrailer.com/Merchant2/me...gory_Code=BR4Bhttp://www.etrailer.com/Merchant2/me...ategory_Code=HYou could make a rack like in the first link to carry your bikes.Smithboy...if it ain't broke, you ain't tryin'.
Reply:they seem kinda complex
Reply:You can definately simplify them...I have one that I made that has maybe 6-8 parts total...but, maybe that is a bit much for a second project...Ok, how about a bicycle repair stand. You could even buy the clamp that holds the bike and build the stand.http://www.branfordbike.com/cgi-loca...R_ID=288311782Or, you could build a wall rack.http://www.bikeracks.com/html/wara.htmlThese are all pretty simple ideas, they just have some curves that make them look hard. I will take a picture of my 4-bike rack that I put together tomarrow. It's made from a couple of salvaged 2-bike racks and a piece of square tubing.Smithboy...if it ain't broke, you ain't tryin'.

Reply:im thinking of making a rack like the ones that you put just the front wheel in and making it so it just fits on my dads trailer. how do you make a pipe bender cos i might need one soon.
