I'm new to oxy fuel welding. I bought an oxy/acetylene setup off of craigslist, and I'm teaching myself to use it. It's an older one, and it doesn't have flashback arrestors. Are they important? Do most people have them now, or is it a minority of welder? Thanks.
Reply:the new torches like my victor has them built in and for 10 to 20 $$ for a set you cant go wrongh
Reply:Not an everyday occurance, but with any O/A setup, there is always the possibility of flashback. Reply:I think those victor items are check valves. What's more important, check valves or flashback arrestors?
Reply:Almost all sets of flash arrestors have built in check valve.Get a set of flash back arrestor with builtin check valves for your torch and you will be good to go.Not all flasharrestor sets are the same, some have very low flow limits.A good set sells for $35-$40.00.JimOAdoctorwww.regulatortorchrepair.com
Reply:Yup. Above pics are check valves. Not flashback arrestors. Flash back arrestors have built in check valves and not all check valves will prevent a flash back.JasonLincoln Idealarc 250 stick/tigThermal Dynamics Cutmaster 52Miller Bobcat 250Torchmate CNC tableThermal Arc Hefty 2Ironworkers Local 720 |
