What's the best way to get a measurment and pitch for a stair rail? it's been a long time since I've done one and I can't seem to recall exactly how to get the right measurment.
Reply:Overall rise and overall run are the main measurements you will need to work from. Determine how many treads you want/need. The rise + the run for a set of individual tread and riser should be in the range of 18in combined(I think... it's been awhile) Make sure to add or subtract from the rise on the first and last rise cuts on the stringer to account for the finished flooring height if this is applicable. Im pretty sure this is the #1 thing people miss when cutting stringers.
Reply:There are a lot of "best" ways. Several techniques have been posted previously.Home Depot sells an inexpensive digital protractor/level.If it is small enough, then draw the steps on a table and build on the drawing.
Reply:Thanks for the info guy's, very helpful. |
