Hoping for some help for a clueless newbie. This is where two pieces of an old toolbox meet, did they spotweld these or different method? Thanks for any info, and your patience!
Reply:Sure could be a resistance spot weld or a plug weld through the flange that's ground flat(although that sounds like a lot of work for a mass produced fabrication). What's the outside corner look like? Open seam or is it solid metal? Could be the flange isn't welded at all if the outside corner of the box was...Benson's Mobile Welding - Dayton, OH metro area - AWS Certified Welding Inspector
Reply:If you clean it good you'll probly see a few little dimples along the flange from the spot welder.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
Reply:It's an open seam, agree that would be a lot of work for a mass produced item.I'll clean it up and take a closer look for dimples, thanks for the verification. |
