Found these on a little bike stroll through the neighborhood.  Put out for the trash man... I'll fix half, my SO is gonna be taking care of the other half. These chairs are HEAVY-duty too.  They were meant for a dining room but we need them for a future patio set.I'll post the final product after she does her shizzle on the re-covering. (The second photo is an original weld still in tact.. the others are the fix in two spots.)       ...yeah, I'm no zap, but got the job done.  Last edited by JLARSJ; 04-29-2007 at 06:03 PM.

Reply:Thanks Graham.  I've seen the new covers... euro green with whites stripes.  Two more to sew up and install.   On the lookout for a decent patio table now.

Reply:Wouw...you know what they say " one man´s trash is anothers man treasure"Pretty cool you found that, I always get shouted because I find something in the garbage and bring it home. It stays on my backyard, and It looks pretty much like a junkyard. I hate when we make some "backyard cleaning", when that is mentioned, I kno they´ll be throwing my treasures out =(Nice work!My Babies: HF Drill pressHF Pipe Bender3   4.5" Black and Decker angle grindersLincoln Electric PROMIG 175that´s it!
Reply:Looks great, I wish I could find some chairs around here like that. It looks like all you needed was a little more prep on the metal and a tad more heat. Your welds are a bit spattered and balled, give that a shot next time. John -  fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!-  bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com

Reply:Really great job with the chairs.  1 hint-- on flat bar like that hit it with the edge of the grinder to make a wider seam between the bars.  Then weld in the larger seam.  By doing this you get penetration and you can grind it flush with out leaving a thin weld.  I used to do a lot of furniture repairs add the primary reasons for failure were cold welds or cracked welds from lack of penetraiton.Furniture repairs is a good way to make money without much welding experience.  Make your presents known at salvage places and smaller furnitures vendors. Just randomly asking people who own iron furniture.  Even antiques shop, though beware of what you are working on.Last edited by tapwelder; 06-09-2007 at 08:25 AM.
