Hey all just wanted to ask a question or two about the dynasty 200. What is up with the high frequency start ? I just used one at work and the high freqency start seemed to act different each time I lit up. Sometimes the arc would jump across 3/4" and others id have to almost touch the tungsten to the work piece. Once lit the arc would be fine. And how would you all rate the thermal arc 200 ?
Reply:I love the dynasty 200 for both stick and tig. If you have trouble starting an arc just scratch the surface of material with the tungsten before striking arc, then try to strike an arc. I have never had a problem with the high frequency for start ups besides the tungsten being a little dirty and it would act up as you stated above where you have to be right up at the surface of the material to strike arc. If you do what I said above with scratching the surface it should be no problem jumping the 3/4" high frequency start. These are the machines we use at school and the machine that i bought off the school because I loved welding with it that much.
