I need to get some ER70S-2 filler rod, today, saturday July 3rd. The local welding supply stores are closed until tuesday. Where should I look?
Reply:put a ad on craigslist (wanted)if no luck take the weekend offand have a good 4th
Reply:Tractor supply here in Fla has rod. But they are 1 lb and not cheap.I'm spending my Kids inheritance, I dont like him that much anyway!!!!!!Enuff tools to do the job, enough sense to use em.Anybody got a spare set of kidneys? Trade?
Reply:Call some of the smaller welding shops in your area. Might get lucky and someone answers and will sell you some. Or maybe find one that is run out of the garage at his house and he might be home and willing to sell you some. If you do get lucky I would probably toss the guy some extra beer money since they are going out of their way to help!Good luck
Reply:I have a feeling you are probably SOL. I can't remember if Tractor Supply has rod, if so it's probably for O/A. You might luck out and find someone here thats local and willing to sell you some. I used to be really lucky and the guy who ran the LWS would open up for me if I called him on a weekend in an emergency, but I doubt seriously if I could have reached him on a holiday weekend (not that I would probably have tried). Heck one of my suppliers was closed on Friday as well as Monday. I had to scavange parts from some of my stuff yestreday/today to get an emergency that came in yesterday out the door ASAP..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:If you can use thin diameter rod on your project, you can substitute ER70S-6 mig wire for tig rod. Home Depot and Lowe's sell .030 L56 in the small spools.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op
Reply:You can also twist up several cut lengths of S6 or S3 wire. I use lock wire pliers but locking pliers will work.Matt
Reply:Thanks for all the help. I found some filler at a local tool store. Which was kind of a long shot because they don't carry welding machines. I guess in the interval since the last time I was there, they started to carry Forney products. What I found was ER70S-6.Last edited by fortyonethirty; 07-04-2010 at 01:39 PM. |
