welding supplies, who's pulling the strings?

Today I went to my LWS outfit to buy a spool of self sheilded flux core wire for my PM255. The LWS is a Matheson Tri-Gas dealer. The saleman behind the counter had never heard of such wire and in fact invited me out into the warehouse to look, I did see numerous spools of multi-types/makes of hard mig wire. I thought it rather odd he was unfamiliar with flux core, after a several minute phone call he figured out how to order a spool from Lincoln. However being how the little sales office/dispaly area was maybe 1/4 the size of the huge warehouse bay of gas bottles, I can't help but think the salesmans ignorance of FCAW-SS and the numerous gas bottles are related.
