My grandma passed away many years ago, but one time before then, she gave me a broken letter opener, a dagger with no handle. Naturally when I started to teach myself to weld, I was trying my hand at all sorts of junk, but this idea came up. I used a carriage bolt and wing nut. I ran the bolt through a hollowed out round dowel then welded the old blade to my new made handle. it took lots of tacks with 1/8" 6013 rods and an AC stick machine! Tack-grind, tack-grind...I used a lot of aluminum foil to cover the blade and handle, which was not entirely successful, as some spatter managed to burn through. This old project has been in my collectible case for half a dozen years since I touched it last and needs a bit of polishing!I am posting this now because I am trying to figure out how to post pics from my 35mm camera. They will burn photo cd's at the drug store, shucks it's news to me!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~I borrowed half of Zaps idea, ergo the nickel!City of L.A. Reply:Looks good! I thought that pic looked a little grainy. I like it. I have a Pentax MZ-S SLR and camera that I still use. It was a high-end camera in it's time which wasn't too long ago. I also have an old Pentax K1000. There's nothing quite like taking pictures with an all manual SLR. You really have to pay attention to what you're doing. I love the sound of the shutter.Anyway back to welding. Nice job. That's a clever fix.Lincoln AC/DC 225/125 Stick Linde HDA-300 MillerMatic DVI MIG Miller Dynasty 200DX Hypertherm Powermax 1000
