Funky hole on the end of one of those aluminum rollers with the "steel/aluminum" weld.. Time for the paper mold trick..Cut it out...After a trip to the band saw..(Kinda looks like a sinister Mickey Mouse) Inserted in the hole..And we move on to the next post.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:And here we have it all done..And NO!!! I did not do the original roller/head welding...Yuk!.. The weapon..3/32 red..Gas mix..100 amps or so..5356 filler..Billett to cast..I get all the fun jobs.. ...zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:Zapster, Did you cut it out with a plasma or a torch or something else I seem clueless about. I never even thought of this paper mold idea. Seems brilliant to me, maybe I should try another welding school doesn't seem like I know very much (gggrrrrrr...)Laura MM 180Chop SawDewalt grinderhelpful husband

Reply:Laura,He said he cut out the filler patch on the bandsaw.Zap,When I saw the first pic I thought you were going to fill in the whole hole with just the TIG and filler rod! Clean looking weld you did there, unlike the original head-to-roller weld!
Reply:Yep thats Looks like a great repair!Mickey Mouse weld it like you own it

Reply:Yea I missed the whole band saw part. Sorry about that. I hope I can find somewhere to work in NC I've found nothing on the web but really need to team up with an experienced welder to show me the ropes. We're gearing up to move next month, hubby is Air Force. Can you tell me what exactly a welder's helper is? Or maybe that's just a term they use here.Laura MM 180Chop SawDewalt grinderhelpful husband
