I was just wondering if anyone had suggestions for good metal supplier on Long Island (preferably Suffolk County). I am just getting into welding and want to start on some projects, but I don't know a good place to get steel sheets and tubing. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.Lincoln 180HD
Reply:when you know let me know too..I have used bellomre steel a few times but price isnt too good...
Reply:Same here. There are two steel suppliers in Bellmore that I know of, and one I could hit with a rock from my house, but neither is affordable. They're more into fabrication, and don't want to be bothered with people just buying metal. The last time I bought steel was from Fleischer Tube in Bayshore.Really nice guy, willing to spend the time with the little guy, and use his cold cut saw to save you time (the last project I did had a lot of cutting, and what he charged for cutting was less than it would have cost me in plasma consumables or cutoff wheels, and came out better than I could have done). But, he's not conveniently located for me (I'm in Nassau), and he's got limited stocks of sheet and plates (although an impressive selection of sections, bar stock, and tubes). You're in Suffolk though. You should google him.I get my sheet stainless and aluminum at the scrap yards, but you never know what you'll find if you shop that way.
