Ok so its been a while since I have been on. I have been up to too much. I recently opened my own ornamental metal business (Pro-Fab Metal Works), and have been learning a bit about structual. But I wanted to share a few of my most recent projects. I only have pictures of the gates right now as I am not finished with the others. My first project is a gate a lady wanted and she designed it. she wanted the gate to perfectly represent the picture she drew up. So I inturn hand bent all of teh scrolls, I am very proud of this one. (pics below)My next project was a set of stairs in a brick well going from the second story of a house to the ground/basement. and My third project was a weather vein that needed to be to spec of the drawing as well. let me tell you its hard to bend swoops out of 1/2"x1" solid flat bar. any ways here are pics of the gate.latch detail my design.

Reply:I like the latch... Giving me ideas for an upcoming winery art project. Which leads me to a question.. Have you ever tried to roll a twisted tube before?Common sense in an uncommon degree is what the world calls wisdom.
Reply:nice job! "Every choice you make will effect at least one other person"
Reply:wow very nice. i want to see the other two projects too "Ask not for whom the bone bones, it bones for thee" - Bender
Reply:The gate looks great!!And then, after so much work...... you have it in your hand, and you look over to your side...... and the runner has run off. Leaving you holding the prize, wondering when the runner will return.
Reply:WOW, you got skillz. Nice.
Reply:Brainfarth, Don't want to hijack the thread, but I tried it once, and I never could get a satisfactory bend. If you can manage to roll it let me know how you did it.Mr2Turbo7, Nice work. Keep the pics coming.I'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......
Reply:Very nice workIdeas Without Action are Folly
Reply:thank you for all your comments. I have rolled tube before. But never twisted. What I do is get a piece of 4" pipe, and weld it to my table, then place the size of material I am using up against it the way i am bending it, and then weld a piece or round stock or something on the other side of the material being used. then just bend it and shape it a little at a time. Making sure to keep my material flat on the table so it doesnt get stwisted while bending it.
Reply:Nice job. The expanded metal at the bottom is a nice touch.
Reply:thank you. I was deciding between 1/4" or 1/2" expanded or perforated metal. i think i got it right. you can barely see it in person. |
