6010 for inverters

i have a ta185 and many knowledgeable welders have told me an inverter has a hard time with 6010 due to the low ocv. was looking at a lincoln catalaog and they make a fleetweld 180, designed for small ac machines with low ocv.am plannin to try it out, wonderin if anyone else has done so..
Reply:If you have ever read any literature on the TA185 it state that it has circuitry to run cellulose type rods.  I haven't had any trouble running any 6010 rods and I've tried up to 3/16" 6010.  The only short coming is that it will not run anything bigger then 1/8" downhill.

Reply:Those welders who said that are probably the same kind who think you need a chopped '71 SA200 to run pipelines.You will be fine running it with the TA185, and even better off with the fleetweld's.Have we all gone mad?

Reply:thanks fer the thoughts,..im sure the comment was made abhout smaller inverters..my ta runs 6010/6011 pretty good, the problem i sometimes get is hard restrikes/sticking..the ta185 has no dig control, the only solution is more heat..

Reply:i thought it wasa max of 70 amps over the setting..do you recall howto access he menu to change settings?i really need to read the book...
Reply:let this be a lesson to all about the horrible effects of tater..i completely forgot  my ta had  the hot start....this am i fingered out how to reset the parameters and boosted it up to 40 ..made a big difference..many thanks.. Attached Images
Reply:Maxstar 150 runs 6010 like $hit, XMT 304 runs it the balls. All depends on the machine. Then again I havent run one of them can long arc it like an old Idealarc 250 or any engine drive.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ."
