Since this seems to be the busiest forum I'll introduce myself here-I go by Chuck U&R - Up and Running !!! - from a web business I had a few years back. Reply:Like everything else - if I where to put in the time, maybe take a class or two I'd probably be better at it.As it is I use it mostly for turning spacers, replacement handles stuff like that.Haven't used the mill much but plan to soon.Would I buy a new one ? NO. Not unless it was a matter of space limitaion and then I'd probably look at a Shoptask.I plan to eventually replace the Smithy with a 'real' lathe and a 'real' milling machine.I'm just starting to look at steel buildings.I'd like a 30'x50' try to keep it under $15K.Anybody with 'metal building' experience out there ?

Reply:Nice playroom !Nice work on the SS parts.There's a guy in AZ, I think, goes by Longrider.Runs turbos on 3 or 4 Harleys and swears by 'em.I like the locks under the engine stand.Where did you get 'em ? or what exactly are they called so I can do a search. My welding table wants to wander off at times.
Reply:I got the locks and caster setup at a local metal scrap yard just by chance. I think Grainger has them as well as MSC.   T.J.

Reply:TJS, I like that engine run stand.  Did you build it from scratch or did you have plans for it?  That would be nice to run engines to check for leaks and break in cams before putting them in the car.Dave
Reply:Chuck, I checked by 2003 catalog. The 2004 did not come yet. But the 651 in stainless w/ fixed sights would be around $300.00 With Titanium fixed sights about $400.00
