Reply:i would say ebay but thats where people overpay and buy anything for any price, try checking with a welder repair shop, they might have something to fit you.StangnetShop Full Of Stuff. Joey
Reply:yea i agree with you. i dont want to buy from ebay because it may not even work and the cost on there is the same as going to a shop and buying a new one LOL., but i like your idea about checking out the welding shops. i didnt think of that.Share your Knowledge!
Reply:I have had great luck on ebay. I bought my unused 270 with spoolgun for $600. A new Speedglass 9000x for $240.00 I bought a 2yr old 40ppm digital copy machine with finisher for $875 inclucing shipping. And many others. The secret is not to bid on the item until there is abot 20 seconds left on the auction. Bid the maximum amount that are willing to pay. This way there is, 1. no time for anyone else to try to outbid you. 2. You won't be tempted to pay too much just to win the item in the heat of bidding. 3. You won't drive the price higher because if you bid, then the other guy will re-bid and so on, raising the price up. I would recomend it highly.

Reply:when the site first opened around oct 03, i brought up the idea of a marketplace forum to Chuck. now that the site has more traffic, it might be a realityStangnetShop Full Of Stuff. Joey
Reply:I think a classified section here would be great, one thing about it though is those that want top dollar will almost always do better on ebay, so it could build some bad blood. Never know though, and that's only one thought.I sold my barely used MM175 on ebay, and got $100 more than I paid for it.

Reply:To shop on eBay for things like welders and other serious tools and equipment, you have to already be familiar with the product you are looking at, so you know what kind of value you are getting. Sometimes you can get close enough of an education when there are several of the same items out there and you get a feel for the price the market is bearing at the time in all conditions. There are some really good deals to be made on eBay, but there are also a lot of items that will cost you more than locally when shipping is factored in. Caveat emptor.
Reply:When buying heavy or bulky items on ebay it helps to email the seller and ask them for a shipping quote to your zip code, that way you can figure in the shipping cost into your total price. You may find it local for the same price or less the the ebay price + shipping.
