Truck bed prototype

Here is a prototype of a truck bed I want to build for my work truck.What do you think?  I think it needs more cowbell...MORE COWBELL...not sure.  The pieces sticking out the top are tool boxes.
Reply:Looks good, 2 things to remember though. You want your intake and exhaust areas clear of obstructions. And, you want to have access to the complete control panel and hook-ups, preferably without reaching over something else.Anything worth doing is worth doing RIGHT
Reply:The lead connections are on the side of the welder, the controls are on the front.  I want to build it so it will take a ranger/bobcat/trailblazer later on if needed and my WeldanPower right now.  I may move that front left box out of the way or figure something else out.  Just a first design.  Need $$ to get it rolling though, so I have time to tinker with the plans.The only thing that won't be accessable easily will be the start/choke/idle switches as well as some of the aux power plugs.  They will be accessible, but not as easily.Btw, that's diamondplate aluminum.  It'll be lighter, and match my white truck nicely I think.I was thinking of having part of the floor as a lift up hidden door to store and lock up leads.  Then have the side boxes deep to hold wire feeders, wire, and welding rod.  Then put a power inverter and a small rod oven in one of the tool boxes.Last edited by WelderBoy; 09-30-2007 at 10:28 PM.

Reply:is it going to be a flatbed with toolboxes on top or will it be more of a normal pickup bed with toolboxes built in?In your design it looks like a flatbed with openings, which may be nice or not so nice, means you will have to strap everything down so it dont roll off.Have we all gone mad?
