I finally pushed that little MM175 to its limit; ¼ steel volts at 10, wire speed100. Good puddle and much easier to play with then thin wall tube. I would love to have some way of seeing into the welds to check for pits, weakness or just plain solid weld. Sure did warm the tip up as well as the back of my hand. Raymond
Reply:send a picture in. Their are many experts in this forum that will analize it. My welds arn't good enough yet to withstand the truth.
Reply:I know what you mean Sticky, I'm still afraid to post my welds cause I know these guys would laugh all week. But I keep working at it and still havin fun. Some day maybe I'll be good enough to post a pic.
Reply:This is the reason I'm a big fan of some sort of schooling, either formal or by an experienced weldor. You know you're welds are not right but you don't know why. Reply:1/8 rod, 1/8 steel, 6013, 108 amps,Ididn't have time too practice, Ijust turned on the welder, touched the steel twice and came inside and took a picture.I think if I had time to mess around, I would turm down 5 amps, move slower and more steady. What anybody else think? Attached Images
Reply:I had some time to practice on these. Attached Images
Reply:I think your as good as me, maybe better. I should get my courage up, take a few pictures and throw myself on the mercy of those who know!:-)
Reply:It looks like the farther left you go on your practiced beads the better you get! The no practiced ones are a little fat and I think you have the right idea going. On the far left, the last bead you can see from start to finish, that's a nice looking one as far as I can tell! The others aren't horrid either, just not as pretty/good as the other you layed. Good luck and have fun!Lean mean TIG weldin' machineSquarewave 175
Reply:Here is some 1/8" 6013 on about 1/8" steel that I did the other day. I'm not sure on the amperage as my machine has no exact marks on it. Here ya go: P.S. These are NOT examples of how to clean the weld metal! My grinder pooped out on me and these were just some "I'm bored...hmm...I know! I'll weld!" beads. Maybe they can give you an idea or something...Who knows!?Lean mean TIG weldin' machineSquarewave 175 |
