I need to quote some 2" x 1 1/4" x .120 rec tube that requires some 90 degree bends with an inside radius of 3". I've checked a few people in and around portland with no luck. The closest they can come is about 5". Does anyone know where I can find someone that bend that size of tube?Common sense in an uncommon degree is what the world calls wisdom.
Reply:Brain. I looked at the JD and Pro sites and neither offer a 3" radius in that size. Even that thick it is likely to kink on that small of a radius. Might jump over to OFN and see if Baliegh can give you an idea or a hand. He's a stand up guy and sells the most versatile benders on the market for CNC and mandrel stuff.Bob.I'm spending my Kids inheritance, I dont like him that much anyway!!!!!!Enuff tools to do the job, enough sense to use em.Anybody got a spare set of kidneys? Trade?
Reply:with that radius your going to have a hell of a time finding anyone to bend it without making a mess. What i have done in the past to fake these ultra tight radius's when the job calls for it is to have some pieces of plate burned with the right radius and section width and weld the tube to it. with some good finishing work you can really make it look as if its one piece. You can give Accurate Tube Bending, Inc In Newark CA a call @ 888-790-BEND OR Stockton Tri Industries in Stockton, CA a call @ (209) 948-9701Vantage 500's LN-25's, VI-400's, cobramatics, Miller migs, synch 350 LX, Powcon inverters, XMT's, 250 Ton Acurrpress 12' brake, 1/4" 10' Atlantic shear,Koikie plasma table W/ esab plasmas. marvel & hyd-mech saws, pirrana & metal muncher punches.
Reply:The tubes are for an engine transport cradle. We had one here and are going to bid on making a few more of them. The measurements are all metric, so it probably wasnt made in the states. If worse comes to worse, I could plasma out some side plates.Common sense in an uncommon degree is what the world calls wisdom. |
