hello all, im getting ready to weld the seams on myrally car project. most of the welds arebutt welds on 18 gauge sheet metal. the sheet metal ranges from 16gauge to 20gauge. what i would like to know is... -what wire size should i use? -whats the best gas for thin/dirty sheet metal?(i use c25) -whats the best way to weld thin sheet metal invertical position? -anyone know the best way to clean up the seamsand seam sealer?? thanks fellas. heres some pics of the car...
Reply:i use 030 wire for sheet stuff and i weld down on the thin stuff... try a few diffrent 2lb spools of wire like 023 and 030 and the c25 is fine.. and dont forget to tack the hell out of it, sheet metal warps like crazy !!!!!!!!!!the cleaner the better, spend the ime and PREP the weld area and make sure you have a good GROUND did you do the cage ?pretty neat.... where are you going to race it ?brian
