Hey I am looking for a little help and some ideas. I work Maintenance at an ADM plant and we have a '95 Chevy half ton pickup that my boss wants a flat bed on. Well I am going to build one. Don't worry....I know half ton!!! We will have a welder and torch setup on it and will just use it around our plant so we don't have to grab something with forks and drag a welder around. I am looking for ideas of things that you guys have done on your flat beds that have made it really nice to work out of. I would like to have short sides that I could flip up and down. I hate having flanges and such falling off. Please any ideas or pictures would be nice !! Thanks Matt
Reply:I did this a few years ago on my half ton. I also made it dump. Steel was not cheap for this project. It was one of the most self rewarding self projects I have done. Reply:Very nice! I'll have to remember this when I get ready for my flatbed project on my F150.
Reply:please be aware that in some states (michigan is one ) you legally must retitle the truck as a stake-bed.a friend who had one of the conversions made the mistake of mouthing off to the officer who pulled him over for speeding.officer impounded the truck for improper title and registration.the stake/bed plates cost significantly more than a pickup.
Reply:Nice work TJ, I like the rest of your website too. Can't wait till the Mustang page is done!FredSure, I can fix it... I got a welder!!!
Reply:That is a great bed! What are some other ideas of how you all mounted vice, and all of the other goodies you like to have with you? Matt
