Tig inverter advice needed!

Need some advice guys?I am skilled in tig welding guy not by trade, but have done my fair share of tig welding in 10 years, mostly aluminum, light to heavy.In the past had a econ tig, I learned on, then got a syncro wave 250, very nice machine, now sold.Well 5 years later, I own a hi performance cylinder head business, and need a tig to repair aluminum heads.As of right now, the lincoln inverter 205 gets my vote. I need to run 150 amps on AC mode to fix most heads. Secondly, is this HTP/ Stel inveter, very impressive.I looked at the miller dynasty 200, but is seemed not so good on power output and the duty cycle compared to the 2 mentioned above, it cant compare.Also, the thermal arc 185 looks nice too for the priceI guess what im asking for is a very stable arc in AC mode...at 150~160 amps, and good low end.I  want an inverter.Any advice on any of these machines mentioned would be greatly respected.Thanks!
Reply:I bought a HTP, I made my choice on it's duty rating and price. The ads claim it'll run @200 amps and pull 30 amps put of the wall. If you compare the weight of the inverters the HTP is heavier, it has 3 cooling fans with a metal case. It's overall size is larger than the others. The package doesn't come with a electrode holder, but it has everything else for tig including a flowmeter. I asked for the connector to set it up for stick and they threw it in free! Rich

Reply:DRD,Don't know about the HTP, but the Lincoln invertec's were being built by an Italian co. I have used both the Invertec 205 and Dynasty 200DX on occassion and I prefered the Dynasty. I would love to be able to get mine today but the wallet won't allow it!Good Luck!P.S. Just a thought, but would a Dynasty 300DX fit the bill?Chris

Reply:I have the HTP tig welder and love it. I was comparing the HTP and Miller Dynasty 200DX and the only part the Miller beat the HTP was in the multiple input power source which didn't matter to me. Otherwise, it was the HTP hands down. Reply:The pt 185  dosent have a good enough duty cylce to withstand 150`160 amps on AC mde with shut down...it's more of a light weight hobby machine in my eyes...

Reply:Yep, after looking around, I might just go for a new syncrowave, it's hard to beat for sure, or a new  lincoln tig.
Reply:I've got a Lincoln V-205 and it is amazing. Since I only have 115V/15A out in the garage, I'm somewhat limited to about 115-120A, but thats enough for most of the things I do. I have taken it over to my brothers house, who has 230V, and the power is awesome. It only weighs about 35lb's so portability is great.  Plus it has variable AC frequency, which is sweet on aluminum, and it has a full featured pulse. The Miller Dynasty 200 DX is also a very good machine from what I hear (I was seriously thinking about getting one, but it was more expensive than the Lincoln). Take care.
