I want to buy 50 to 100 pounds each of 6011 and 6013 rods, 1/8 diameter. Any place to order them and get a good price or do you just find a welding supply house and buy them?
Reply:Tractor Supply is cheapest source I've found.
Reply:biggest box ive seen in tractor supply is 10 #..you can find 50# boxes cheap on the net..ive always been concerned that the delivery guy threw that box down and cracked a lot of slag..
Reply:25# of 6011 for $40 ... that's $80 for 50# when it's $120+ at a lot of other places.25# of 7018 for $45 ... that's $90 for 50# when it's $140+ at a lot of other places.UPS gorillas aside, I don't think I'd want to pay shipping on 200# of rods...
Reply:Kelvin, I don't know what part of the country you're from, but my local Tractor Supply rods are a good bit higher than Lowes. Tractor Supply has Hobart rods, Lowes has Lincoln for about 1 dollar a pound cheaper. That said, my local welding supply is where I buy 99 percent of my consumables. They give deep price breaks when you buy 50 pounders. I only buy the smaller 5 pound boxes for 7018 since I don't have a very good storage method for them.Kevin- Springtown, TexasTruck:Chevy cab/ chassis 1 ton dually, big block and flatbedMiller BobcatVictor cutting rigTool boxes crammed full of stuffShop:Millermatic 250Lincoln 135Lincoln 225AC tombstone
Reply:The shipping cost would kill any savings from buying via mail order. Local welding supply is the best place for such a purchase.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op

Reply:I buy from internet places. Just shop around and find the lowest price at the moment. I usually buy lincoln. Some places offer free shipping since they never even see it. It gets drop shipped to me from the lincoln warehouse in Dallas. No tax either since the seller is in a different state. That's an instant 8.25% discount for me.Dynasty200DX w/coolmate1MM210MM VintageESAB miniarc161ltsLincoln AC225Victor O/A, Smith AW1ACutmaster 81IR 2475N7.5FPRage3Jancy USA1019" SBAEAD-200LE
Reply:I would go to your local welding supplier. The price per pound is better if you buy in 50# boxes or cans. You will pay tax but you will have it right away and you will know exactly what your getting when you leave. If you order it online and they send you the wrong rod then you have to send it back and thats more down time. You never know maybe the local welding supplier might have some damaged cans of rod that they can't sell and they might sell it cheaper. Dosn't hert to ask.Good luck with your purchase!KroekerMiller Trailblazer 302Miller Dial ArcMiller Suitcase 12RCVictor Torch
