So I searched and cant find if any of these instructional welding dvd's are any good? Any feedback or know of any which would be good to buy? My class won't get in depth on tig welding just basics and I want some material that will teach it right.
Reply:The Welders Lens has a good set. I think it is about a hundred for the set, but good quality footage and good fundamental explanations.BobI'm spending my Kids inheritance, I dont like him that much anyway!!!!!!Enuff tools to do the job, enough sense to use em.Anybody got a spare set of kidneys? Trade?
Reply:smile,Weldingtipsandtricks.com has some good videos on TIG that are FREE if you don't mind a little advertising thrown in. He covers a wide range of topics with practical demonstrations. Add to the fact he is a highly qualified welding instructor.Esab Migmaster 250Lincoln SA 200Lincoln Ranger 8Smith Oxy Fuel setupEverlast PowerPlasma 80Everlast Power iMIG 160Everlast Power iMIG 205 Everlast Power iMIG 140EEverlast PowerARC 300Everlast PowerARC 140STEverlast PowerTIG 255EXT

Reply:I really got a lot out of the videos from http://www.weldingvideos.com/ (Wall Mountain Company)I first saw the videos in my local community college welding class.. the instructor showed a few minutes of one of the videos.. That was the best part of the class. I ended up purchasing the whole set. The best videos for me were Oxy/Acetylene and the stick welding videos, but then I don't own a MIG. I only wish there was a TIG video to round out the set. Drives the wife crazy but I watch 'em over and over.Highly recommended.. Good value.. For me the cost of the videos offset the costs of wasted material and gas getting to the same proficiency level.. easily an overall cost savings.. zip
Reply:ESAB has a bunch of free CD's. Reply:if you want to learn, dont get too much into the video. just go out there and start burning rods. the videos are only gonna give you some tips on tecnique, but the hands on is whats really gonna teach you

Reply:I have seen the wall mountain stick, mig and o/a. They are very informative. If I would have seen them in the beginning, it would have sped up the learning curve. There is nothing like seeing what it is suppose to look like going in.I have seen the welder's lens videos on youtube. I don't know about the set you buy. I spoke to the guy once on the phone. He is the real deal and a nice fellow.buy a 50 lb box of 6010/11 and a 50 lb box of 7018. at the end of it you should have it down.
Reply:I only want to move on, everything in class is easy and I learned quickly. I burn plenty of rod but I wont be welding this semester cause the class closed.

Reply:already do horizontal pads 6013,7018, and 6010. vert down t fillets done, vert down pad. with all mentioned rods. I never got a chance to go indepth on vert up butt joint 7018. but i did mess around with it weaving and some success(good penetration too). I brought in stuff from where i work where i tig welded stainless a couple times. I can do aluminum with some real nice beads after 2 tries. its one of those things I learn really quick, its kinda just flowing naturally with me. my teacher is good too that helps cause I ask him a million questions. I did buy the miller student pack. |
