Hey Guys,I'm just about to get my first real MIG machine (Millermatic 210) and I'm wondering what gas mix I should start out with? I plan to weld mostly mild steel and 1" ID 1 1/4 OD steel tubing (I want to re-weld up my Psychokart). The Millermatic 210 manual says 75% argon, 25% CO2 should be used for steel, but I see other people saying they run 100% C02, or trimix(?) or other mixes. Should I initally use 75% Argon/25% Co2 for mild steel, or should I be using something else? Thanks,AdrianPsychoKart
Reply:I use the 75/25 and it works great for me.
Reply:I've been using C25 with my MM210 and it does fine. I used to run straight CO2 with my old Lincoln and it did fine also. I changed to C25 when I bought the MM210 because my dealer told me that CO2 was an outdated practice. I think it's whatever you prefer.Bruce
Reply:i also use 72/25. also got a tank of pure argon laying around for back up
Reply:Thanks guys.. I picked up my new MM210 today along with an 80CF tank of 75/25 Argon/Co2. What do you guys recommond for my first spool of wire? I'm going to be re-welding everything on my Psychokart which I think is almost all mild steel. Does anyone have any links online to some decent wire that I should be using for mild steel with my MM210?Thanks,AdrianPsychoKart |
