Hi Guys,This is the result of the last two weekends of effort. I bought a Passport Plus, but did not have a suitable work surface to weld on, so a table was needed. It was a fun project, and I learned a lot in the process. The welds aren't great, but they'll hold, and they'll get better now that I have somewhere to practice. Thanks to everyone who was kind enough to help me when I had questions! Attached Images
Reply:I'm pretty sure you can be proud of that.
Reply:Nice table.  That one will be around for a long time to come.I'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......
Reply:That looks great, the shelf under the table top will come in handy. I might borrow that idea for my next one.If you don't want to stand behind our Troops, feel free to stand in front of them.

Reply:That certainly looks like a sturdy table!   I can hear it calling out for a vice to be mounted to it.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op

Reply:nice work.  is the top made of 1\4'' plate?

Reply:Hey Mangler,Nice job on the table and I do agree with the others to do a slight radius(1") on the corners for a safety precaution. Since you made it mobile, and I have all my units mobile, here's a suggestion that you may find quite useful. I've attached a couple photos for you to consider to have a really handy access to power to avoid all the extension cords laying around. I mounted a 4 receptacle box on the underside with a 50' 12/2 cable to have power for multiple power tools you may be using. The underside will keep the receptacles clean & free of metallic particles to avoid any shorting or arcing from metal dust or chips collecting in the openings of the receptacles. Hope this helps a bit....   Denny Attached ImagesComplete Welding/Machine/Fab. Reply:Hi Denny,Thanks for tip on the power box. That is another great idea. I really like your table. I also like what you've done for racks on your garage wall. It looks like you're in the same boat as I am -- trying to make the best of a small work space. Any other good ideas you'd like to share?
Reply:A little late in the game to be suggesting this but here's my mounting system:This is how the idea originally started, it's basically just used for storage now.http://album.hybridz.org/data/500/grinder_006.jpgIf you don't want to stand behind our Troops, feel free to stand in front of them.
Reply:Yeah, the vertical mount would be difficult to retrofit on my table. I mitred the corners so it wouldn't be as simple as cutting out an opening in the top. I like the idea though. Are you just using standard tubing? I read on another forum that guys are using something called "receiver tubing", which is supposed to have tighter tolerances on the ID. I'm in the structural steel business, and so I checked with our salespeople if they'd ever heard of it, but they've never run across anything referred to as "receiver tubing", so I'm wondering if there is a more formal name for it.
Reply:The bench legs are a thick wall tube, the attachments are a mixed bag of scraps I had kickin' around. The thinner wall is pretty easy to flatten and eventually I'll replace it with a thicker wall.If you don't want to stand behind our Troops, feel free to stand in front of them.
Reply:You might want to think twice about mounting a metal box receptacle to a steel welding table.  A suggestion in a different thread was to use a PVC box so you don't have to worry about your welding arc traveling back through the ground to the electrical subpanel.
Reply:You can buy receiver tubing at any trailer supply place.  Tractor supply has it in various lengths.MM175 MIGCutmaster 38 PlasmaCraftsman 30gal compressor4x6 HF bandsaw1hp HF floor drill pressRyobi Cutoff SawAssorted grindersNot enough time
