I have cast brass windshield posts for a auburn speedster kit car I am building. There are several inperfections that need to be filled before plateing. Is this something I do can with just brass rod or better to use a silver rod? Thanks for your help.Best regards,Grandpa Marc
Reply:If it's truly brass, the zinc can vaporize and cause porosity when you melt it. Filling the pits with silver solder would be easier; I'd ask the plater about what alloys would cause no problems with the plating process, just to be sure that's the way to go.
