what is pulsed mig mean? whats the difference between regular mig
Reply:Personally I use pulse mode on MIG whenever I can. I find the stop starts are nicer simply because the power supply cusomizes the current completely. On heavy fillets around 3/8 inch with ,045 metal core I find the risk of undercut is reduced.

Reply:This guy rails against pulsed MIG gear. I have no idea how knowledgable he really is.http://www.weldreality.com/equipment_evaluation.htm
Reply:He knows his stuff alright but the innovations introduced are complex and still being developed. The pulse machines of today create a completely customized current. On many you can design your own current via a laptop and software. A skilled welder can match most of what a pulse machine will do but it makes it a lot easier with pulse. It really stands out when aluminum welding out of position. On the machine I am running I can turn the wire feed over 400 inches per minute then down to 200. The .045 wire in the machine is not intended for out of position on 16 gauge but the machine will give me a current setting that will enable me to weld such thin gauge wiht such a heavy wire. No fiddling.. just the turn of one dial. OK I can fiddle with "trim" if I want.
