Diversion 180 vs squarewave 355

All right guys, and ladies, I was about ready to buy a diversion 180 when my bff called and told me her dad would sell me his Lincoln squarewave 355 complete for 800 dollars.  I know its kinda apples to oranges but here’s my question.  Which one of these welders will lay down a nicer bead?  I plan to do metal art, maybe some intercooler piping and turbo manifolds down the road.Will the adjustability of ac balance, and pulse make up for it being an old transformer.  Or should I go with the easy to use set it and forget it inverter based diversion.Thanks a ton, Michelle

Reply:Thats easy to answer if you have the power required. SW355 , I weld with one all the time at my day job and it is a great machine. I like the 355 better than the newer 375. The Diversion will not touch a 355 period. The machine is better than you are unless your in the top 5% of tig welders.
Reply:why waste my money on something thats over priced for what it actually is ( diversion ) get the 355 , i use a 1976 abp 360 rated 600 amps supposed to pull 250 at the wall , ive never needed to kick it into 3rd gear and i have all the power i have ever needed..... PLUS you cant stick weld with the DIVERSION lol why loose out on a complete and versitile process like that !I forgot how to change this.
