Good Morning,I have a question about WPS/PQR/WPQ's to anyone that can guide me in the right direction. I am a CWI on a Cryogenic Expansion and I have a dilema about procedures that the Contractor has welders qualified too. In a nut shell the welders tested under a different WPS/PQR (001/001) than what is being followed to build the plant (002/002), so I have no welders with paper work designating that they are tested to follow WPS/PQR (002/002) because there papers say WPS/PQR (001/001). I need to know if the welders need to have papers designating them tested under 002/002.DeepSea5342
Reply:It depends on the specifics of each procedure.Example:ASME Section IX qualification for construction to Section VIIIIf the welder is qualified for SMAW procedure, Base metals P-1 to P-1, SFA 5.1 electrode, they would also be qualified to weld SMAW, Base metals P-4 to P-1, SFA 5.1 electrode. What they may need to change is their paperwork to reflect the procedure they are actually using.PM me if you would like to discuss specifics.
Reply:What edition of what code? any contract package exceptions? |
