There are some works of art for carts displayed on this site; mine is pretty simple and made with some salvaged castors and other used stuff but should suffice. Reply:Looks good from here..But you'll be adding to it before long..You'll come up with something to make it better..and better...and better......zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:Man aint it the truth. The bitchinist (I think thats a word) is that if its to short you can make it longer. We have the technology. I thought of some loops to hang hammers and stuff but thought they may get in the way. What I need to do is get a plug wired to the Powcon; its hardwired to the wall now. Not an electrician as anyone viewing some of my other projects can attest....Airco 300 squarewaveMig welding center...Powcon sm300/LN 25Powcon sm200/PD lHypertherm PM 1100Miller AEAD 200LE W/LN25 FCand now another sm200 pd l combo.
Reply:very nice sir... i really like that fact that EVERYTHING is mobile all at once... all in one nice package, but i wonder about the safety of the tank right there... i have no idea what kind of abuse those tanks can take, but i'd be hesitant to weld next to one like that. i'd maybe ad a tall back-splash to protect the tank, valve, and regulator, but other than that, it's pretty darn spiffy.Later,Andy
Reply:Hmmm, thanks for that it hadnt occurred to me. The table top is pretty small so I dont expect to doing big stuff on it but you never know. I have a welding blanket so maybe draping it over would suffice. Nice thing about the hardwire is there is so little spatter. Made a couple of steel horses that I lay a chunk of 3/16 plate on for this scale of project. I will keep my eyes open for a chunk of plate to make a tank protector out of.Airco 300 squarewaveMig welding center...Powcon sm300/LN 25Powcon sm200/PD lHypertherm PM 1100Miller AEAD 200LE W/LN25 FCand now another sm200 pd l combo.
Reply:Interesting.A couple of thoughts. You have an arc welder there son, it doesn't need a spark igniter. About the gas cylinder. If you are working and welding on that table top area, you really-really-really-really need to protect the cylinder from accidental welds or damage. A simple sheetmetal shield would be sufficient. Protect the cylinder and the hoses and the gauges and regulators.Related to protection, plate shouldn't be need. Unless you are really clumsy and rough. Also related to protection. Adjustments to the workpiece(s) during fabrication often involve persuasion tools, ala BFH. The impact from the tools going through the cart to the welders or the regulators or gauges is not a good thing. I'd relegated that flat table top on the cart to gentle tasks only. And protect the cylinder!!! Intense heat by the cylinder is not good, arcs by or -on- the cylinder are bad-bad-bad. Not that you would be planning on arc-welding the cylinder, but there you are involved in welding something together and you are in the 'groove' laying down an awesome bead as you roll past the corner of the workpiece and reeeeeeaach to finish the weld and slip or otherwise clip the arc onto the gas cylinder. Booom! goes the full cylinder. Bad-bad-bad.

Reply:Thanks for all the input, the table top will be relegated to a place to put my tools while I am working. I think I will paint the top so it reinforces the idea. I have a nice vice on another bench but I dont hammer stuff in it, I like it to much. My horses are pretty massive and I can tack stuff onto them for the bfh stuff. Probably wouldnt be a good idea to hammer on the castors either....Airco 300 squarewaveMig welding center...Powcon sm300/LN 25Powcon sm200/PD lHypertherm PM 1100Miller AEAD 200LE W/LN25 FCand now another sm200 pd l combo. |
